CALL FOR PROJECT


According to the Horizon 2020 commission proposal of research and innovation funding programme for 80 billion euro, EMASST promotes and gives support to creating a cluster of Industries, Research Centers and Universities which are interested in developing and presenting a common projects, on topics of Association.
EMASST highlights that Horizon 2020 supports public-private partnerships. These can take the form of a contractual arrangement between public and private actors and can, in limited cases, also be institutionalized public-private partnerships, such as Joint Technology Initiatives (JTIs) and other Joint Undertakings. These allow businesses and other stakeholders to join together to set and organise their own research and innovation agenda.
Under Horizon 2020, the Commission proposes to make Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) an integral part of one objective (Excellent Science) and open it up to collaborative projects in any technological area (for example material science or health).
The projects must be developed in accordance with one of the three priorities fixed by Horizon 2020:

  • Excellent Science*;

  • Industrial leadership*;

  • Societal Challenges*.


EMASST helps and promotes (before the starting of Horizon 2020 in the next 2014) the submission of new activities project which are in accordance both with the members activities and with the Horizon 2020 strategic and marketplace priorities. In this way EMASST will take care of identify and gather the common or complementary ideas.

DEADLINES:


  • 30th September 2013 – submission of preliminary project ideas (AVAILABLE only for members)


  • 31st October 2013 – EMASST will define one or more big projects which takes into account the proposed ideas submitted by the members. Members will assess the structure and adequacy of these big projects, and in case will be able to suggest possible changes to the project or will confirm it.


  • 30th November 2013 – Members will describe in detail  and develop own contribution that will be included in the main big projects.


  • December 2013 – Starting with the customization of the big project in accordance with the proposal form provided by Horizon 2020

EMASST  urges its members to present ideas for project proposal. It is possible to complete the form on-line only for members.
Ideas will be published in the section of Horizon 2020 on the EMASST website in order to provide the opportunity for other member to identify similar or complementary ideas to develop together.







*Horizon 2020
will focus resources on three distinct, yet mutually reinforcing, priorities, where there is clear Union added value. These priorities correspond to those of Europe 2020 and the Innovation Union.

Excellent Science.

This will raise the level of excellence in Europe's science base and ensure a steady stream of world-class research to secure Europe's long-term competitiveness. It will support the best ideas, develop talent within Europe, provide researchers with access to priority research infrastructure, and make Europe an attractive location for the world's best researchers.
This will:


 

support the most talented and creative individuals and their teams to carry out frontier research of the highest quality by building on the success of the European Research Council;

15.008 M€

fund collaborative research to open up new and promising fields of researchand innovation through support for Future and Emerging Technologies (FET);

3.505 M€

provide researchers with excellent training and career development opportunities through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions ('Marie Curie actions');

6.503 M€

ensure Europe has world-class research infrastructures (including einfrastructures) accessible to all researchers in Europe and beyond.

2.802 M€

 

Industrial Leadership.

This will aim at making Europe a more attractive location to invest in research and innovation (including eco-innovation), by promoting activities where businesses set the agenda. It will provide major investment in key industrial technologies, maximise the growth potential of European companies by providing them with adequate levels of finance and help innovative SMEs to grow into worldleading companies.

This will:

 

build leadership in enabling and industrial technologies, with dedicated support for ICT, nanotechnologies, advanced materials, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing and processing, and space, while also providing support for cross-cutting actions to capture the accumulated benefits from combining several Key Enabling Technologies;

15.580 M€

facilitate access to risk finance (Leveraging private finance and venture capital for research and innovation);

4.000 M€

provide Union wide support for innovation in SMEs (fostering all forms of innovation in all types of SMEs).

Societal Challenges.

This reflects the policy priorities of the Europe 2020 strategy and addresses major concerns shared by citizens in Europe and elsewhere. A challenge-based approach will bring together resources and knowledge across different fields, technologies and disciplines, including social sciences and the humanities. This will cover activities from research to market with a new focus on innovation-related activities, such as piloting, demonstration, test-beds, and support
for public procurement and market uptake. It will include establishing links with the activities of the European Innovation Partnerships.
